Local Community Advocacy to Support Social Inclusion
Through program Local Community Advocacy to Support Social Inclusion we would like to instigate associations of citizens to launch initiatives focused on providing financial means for financing social services for children with disabilities and their families from the budgets of local municipalities.
Initiatives should involve citizens into active promotion of problem solutions, as well as direct decision makers to the choice of adequate solutions. At the same time, we would like to promote mutual cooperation of organizations from various regions in Serbia.
Within this program, BCIF provides local organizations both with education and financial support in the amount of 7000 USD (in RSD currency).
The competition is the integral part of the Project “Developing Community-based Services for Children with Disabilities and their Families” implemented within tripartition partnership of EU Delegation, Ministry of Labour and Social Policy and UNICEF (IPA 2008 – Social Inclusion).
Ideas (project proposals) submitted by organizations and coalitions of organizations should be focused on resolving the problem of financing social services for children with disabilities and their families, through advocacy – approach citizens use in order to achieve changes in policies, rules, practices, procedures, financing. Proposed activities should also empower citizens to solve problems and participate in decision making processes through dialogue with local authorities and institutions. Projects should use existing legal framework and possibilities, or propose new legislation that could lead towards positive change.
At the same time, it is expected that proposed advocacy actions do have potential to bring concrete results, to create the change in the budgets of local municipalities and in that way improve lives of children with disabilities and their families.
