Promotional Cycling - Ecological Caravan in the Scope of "Oplaneti se! Do recycle" Campaign

Vranje, June 26th – Belgrade, July, 7th

After central activity held in Belgrade on June, 5th, and a variety of local actions throughout Serbia, Green List of Serbia and Balkan Community Initiatives Fund (BCIF), in partnership with Institute for Sustainable Communities, with financial aid from USAID and in partnership with Telenor foundation and ASUS Company, draws to an end „Oplaneti se! Do recycle“ campaign by cycling – ecological caravan, which starts on June, 26th from Vranje. Media partner in the realization of the campaign is RTS.

The caravan will pass through the following cities: Vranje – Leskovac – Niš – Knjaževac – Zaječar – Bor – Žagubica – Petrovac – Kostolac – Bela Crkva – Pančevo – Belgrade. Thirty activists of Green List of Serbia will spend 13 days on promotional cycling – ecological caravan, and cover 560 km in total, with the goal to send ecological messages. The cyclists will wear specially designed billboards with photos and ecological messages, with the aim to raise citizens’ consciousness regarding the necessity of waste selection. That includes influencing citizens, institutions in charge, the business sector, media and others in the community to take on a more active part in solving of the waste disposal problem, within their jurisdiction.

The final of the 2nd caravan is planned for July, 7th, and the last stage of the caravan is from Pančevo to Belgrade, where all „bicycled“ citizens are invited to participate in a massive ride to Belgrade. The assembly starts at 10 AM at the recycling firm „Božić and sons“ in Pančevo, the start is scheduled for 12 AM, and arrival in Belgrade is planned for 1 PM (in front of Sports centre „May, 25th“). The ride will continue to Ada Ciganlija, where the caravan will end at about 2 PM.

Throughout the entire caravan, along with cyclists, ArtEko robots will be present as well, which have the ability to „speak“. After inserting waste in robots, the robots will „tell“ children and citizens what happens to their can, old newspaper or a plastic bottle after the recycling process.

By Oplaneti se! Do recycle campaign, Green List of Serbia wishes to influence the institutions in charge, the citizens, ecological organizations and other factors in the community to participate more actively in solving of waste disposal problem, within the scope of their jurisdiction, through creating conditions for selection and separation of waste, as a necessary condition for the recycling process.
