2010 VIRTUS Award Contest Open
The Balkan Community Initiatives Fund traditionally presents the VIRTUS Corporate Philanthropy Award to the companies which have shown the highest degree of social responsibility in Serbia.
The VIRTUS Corporate Philanthropy Award Contest opens on Tuesday, September 7, 2010. The Balkan Community Initiatives Fund, with the financial support of the the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and together with the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ICS), will present the Virtus Award for the fourth time in a row. The contest will be open up to October 7, 2010, and applications can be submitted by all local and foreign companies, public and state-owned companies, small and medium enterprises, media companies, as well as corporate funds and foundations, with an exception of non-profit organizations and governmental institutions. Award Candidates can be nominated by all interested citizens, individuals, non-profit organizations, media, PR and marketing agencies, as well as the very companies participating in the contest, which can enter their individual programs. The Fund would also like to invite the entire public to support and nominate the candidates they believe deserve this outstanding prize.
The Award is now traditionally presented to companies and enterprises which have given material and financial support to a state-owned or non-profit action or organization during years 2009 – 2010, and, by their investments for the common good, have helped reaffirm the idea of philanthropy in the world of responsible trading.
The 2010 VIRTUS Award will be presented in four main and two special categories:
- Main Award for the Contribution at the National Level
- Award for the Contribution to the Local Commun. the Company Operates In
- Award for Small and Medium Enterprises
- Award for the Support of the Most Innovative Project of the Year
Apart from the main categories, just like in the past, special awards will be presented as well – the Award for a Long-Term Partnership Between the Business and Non-Profit Sectors and the Special Award for Media Contribution. The Winner Announcement official ceremony will take place in Belgrade early December. The decision on the Award winners will be made by an independent jury comprised of eminent individuals from the business, non-governmental, media and marketing sectors.
VIRTUS is the first award of its kind in Serbia and has been presented ever since 2007 with a view to promoting and supporting corporate philanthropy as an integral part of the socially responsible business operation in order to encourage as many companies, enterprises and individuals as possible to join similar activities. By publicly honoring the companies which support individuals, as well as the entire community, the VIRTUS Award sets new standards and presents the examples of responsible operation which contribute to the improvement of the entire society.
The winners of this prestigious award have so far included companies RDPB92 a.d, Eurobank EFG a.d. Belgrade, Erste Bank a.d. Novi Sad, Societe Generale Bank Serbia a.d. Belgrade, Infostud 3 d.o.o, Telenor d.o.o. etc. The VIRTUS Project, the contest and the official award presenting ceremony are organized by the Balkan Community Initiative Fund in cooperation with the USAID, Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC), VIA Foundation, Rockfeller Brothers Foundation (RBF), C.S. Mott Foundation, Executive Group, Radio Television Serbia, Ekonom:east Media Group, eKapija, Belgrade Media Center, Public Relations Society of Serbia, the City of Belgrade, the National Council of the Republic of Serbia, and other numerous institutions, media and corporate societies which have recognized the significance and value of this initiative.
