Twelve Organizations Were Selected for Successful Fundraising Program

Sixty-six civil society organizations have applied for the competition for Successful fundraising program.  The competition was closed on March 11th.  The following 12 organizations were selected during the two selection rounds:  Youth Initiatives of Kikinda (Kikinda), SOS Women’s Center (Novi Sad), Center for New Media kuda.org/ Youth Center CK13 (Novi Sad), Out of Circle (Belgrade), Cirkusphere (Belgrade), Association for Support of Children in Out-of-Family Upbringing FICE (Belgrade), Incest Trauma Center (Belgrade), Moravski orasak (Trstenik), Proactive (Nis), OSI Center (Paracin), Youth of Jazas (Belgrade) and Association for Help to Persons with Mental Disabilities (Novi Pazar).

The Selection Board consisted of the representatives of BCIF and Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC).  During the selection of the organizations, other criteria apart from the formal ones were taken into consideration, such as organization’s general capacity (capacity for financial management, organization’s structure, accomplished results and social change), current and potential beneficiary and target group, the need for a program and the capacity for fundraising from individuals and companies, as well as geographical and thematic diversity.

During the period from April to June 2011, twelve selected organizations will go through three training modules on fundraising from individuals and companies, with special attention given to the relation between fundraising and organization’s strategic goals, as well as project and financial management.  After that there is the making of fundraising plans, which will encompass activity description for the realization of which the organizations wish to fundraise, as well as the development of concrete fundraising methods and techniques.  In October 2011 the organizations whose plans will have been rated as the most successful will get the financial means for technical support, which will enable them to prepare for the fundraising process itself.  After the fundraising process, BCIF will award them with the second grant, which amounts to the amount fundraised, and could be up to the maximum amount, which is 5,000.00 dollars.

Balkan Community Initiatives Fund (BCIF) is implementing Successful fundraising program, within The Civil Society Advocacy Initiatives program, in partnership with Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC), and with financial support from United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
