The First Training in Successful Fundraising Program Took Place

From April 8th to April 10th the first training in Successful fundraising program was held in Belgrade.  The training dealt with the elements of strategic planning and basic fundraising terms, and had for its goal connecting the fundraising process with the organization’s  general strategic frame.  Two representatives from each of the twelve organizations which had been selected to participate in the program attended the training: Youth Initiatives of Kikinda (Kikinda), SOS Women’s Center (Novi Sad), Center for New Media kuda.org/ Youth Center CK13 (Novi Sad), Out of Circle (Belgrade), Cirkusphere (Belgrade), Association for Support of Children in Out-of-Family Upbringing FICE (Belgrade), Incest Trauma Center (Belgrade), Moravski orasak (Trstenik), Proactive (Nis), OSI Center (Paracin), Youth of Jazas (Belgrade) and Association for Help to Persons with Mental Disabilities (Novi Pazar).

Successful fundraising program has for its goal raising capacities of civil societies for fundraising from individuals and companies from their local communities, through educational and grant component.  During the two remaining trainings, the educational component will provide the participants with a chance to get acquainted with successful examples of fundraising from individuals and companies in Serbia, to meet with the representatives of some of the corporate donors, as well as to go through the planning of fundraising activities for their organizations in detail. After that there is the making of fundraising plans, which will encompass activity description for the realization of which the organizations wish to fundraise, as well as the development of concrete fundraising methods and techniques.  In October 2011 the organizations whose plans will have been rated as the most successful will get the financial means for technical support in the amount of 1,250.00 dollars, which will enable them to prepare for the fundraising process itself.  After the fundraising process, BCIF will award them with the second grant, which amounts to the amount fundraised up to the maximum amount which is 5,000.00 dollars.  During the entire process, two consultants who had been engaged in the program will help the organizations in the coming up with and the implementation of fundraising activities – Marko Kosutic (CSO Blue Bird) and Bojan Milovanovic (CSO “GM Optimist”), who have successful experience in fundraising for their organizations.

Balkan Community Initiatives Fund (BCIF) is implementing Successful fundraising program, within The Civil Society Advocacy Initiatives program, in partnership with Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC), and with financial support from United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
