New Funds Collected – Fundraising from Local Sources Program

Organizations, which are involved in Fundraising from local sources program, are continuing activities for fundraising from individuals and companies from their communities.  Since mid February over 285,000.00 dinars in money donations have been fundraised from individuals and the economy sector.

Organization Green Road Signs from Raska is fundraising for additional works to be performed in two parks and a new one on the slopes of Golija mountain.  So far they have fundraised 29,800.00 dinars from individuals and 44,500.00 dinars from companies in Raska.

Association The Rainbow is fundraising from individuals and companies in Sabac for “Live Books Library”, which are workshops where the members of some marginalized groups will talk with interested citizens on the themes concerning discrimination.  They have raised 70,300.00 dinars so far, mostly through sending letters with deposit slips to individuals and companies.

Organization Cobra is fundraising for the opening of an Internet center in Donja Toponica next to Nis, which will be at disposal for all the citizens, along with five months of organized training.  Cobra has received 40,500.00 dinars so far from enterprises and individuals from the surroundings of Donja Trnava.

Organization The Good People from Valjevo has collected 10,035.00 dinars from individuals for putting up recycling containers in schools by implementing “Ecological dinar” action in coffee shops.  Moreover, they have started negotiations with the biggest anticipated donor - Greenteck company from Novi Sad.

Association for the Development of Creativity from Aleksinac has so far received a donation from a local enterprise in the amount of 30,000.00 dinars for the action of arranging two open spaces – a park and a summer stage.

Center for Creative Development from Knjazevac has collected 10,000.00 dinars so far by selling small sacks filled with sand to the citizens.  The selling action has symbolical meaning, since it should enable the arranging of an open space for sport and recreational and cultural activities.

White Birch from Krusevac has received a donation to be spent on thirty seedlings for the action of greening the yard of an elementary school in the municipality of Parunovac in Krusevac.  For the implementation of the action they need to fundraise for 250 seedlings in total.

Q Club from Belgrade has received a donation from a pharmaceutical company in the amount of 500 euros.  They will try to fundraise from pharmaceutical companies and individuals for the making of standards for psychosocial support to the people who have AIDS, and which will they then submit for legislation to Ministry of Labor and Social Policy.

During 2010 within Fundraising from local sources program, fifteen organizations in total have gone through the trainings on strategic planning process, project and financial management, as well as on fundraising from enterprises and individuals.  They have then worked on the making of strategic plans for their organizations, as well as on fundraising plan, that is the coming up with an action for which the funds would be raised in their community.  Nine organizations – Center for Creative Development, Association for the Development of Creativity, White Birch, Q Club, ApsArt, The Good People, The Rainbow, Cobra, Green Road Signs had the best documents according to the evaluation made by BCIF and the project consultant team, and they have received the means for technical support which should enable them to prepare for the fundraising process.  During the upcoming months the organizations will try to maintain partnerships with local entrepreneurs, as well as with the citizens – individual donors, and to fundraise as planned, while BCIF will give them donations in the amount of the funds raised that is the means will be doubled.

Fundraising from local sources program is being implemented by BCIF with support from VIA Foundation from Czech Republic, within Transition Promotion program of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
