Three Organizations from Serbia Won the ERSTE Foundation Award for Social Integration 2011
On a final ceremony held in Prague on June 20th, the ERSTE Foundation Awards for Social Integration 2011 were awarded. Among the 31 awarded organizations there are three organizations from Serbia: Half Way There from Pančevo with “Assisted Living” project, Association for Local Development Kamenica from Niš with “Third Age” project and Association of citizens and parents of children with needs for special support from Kruševac with “With Health against Poverty” project.
The awarded organizations from Serbia have been supported by BCIF several times within Social Transition and Fundraising from local sources programs. “Third Age” project by Association for Local Development Kamenica from Niš was directly supported in cooperation with National Lottery of Serbia within Goodness program.
132 projects out of 1850 submitted applications from the countries from Southeastern Europe were shortlisted, among which there were 10 projects from Serbia:
- “Days of Sarajevo” festival, by Youth initiative for human rights from Belgrade
- “The Clown Doctors” by Saša Stanojević from Belgrade
- “Body frame” by Let’s… group from Belgrade
- "Third Age” by Association for Local Development Kamenica from Niš
- "Learn about Life'' by Civil Society ''Kokoro'' from Bor
- "Get exited” by Exit Foundation from Novi Sad
- "With Health against Poverty" project by Association of citizens and parents of children with needs for special support from Kruševac
- "Support Service for Parents and Children with special needs" by The Association for Cerebral Palsy and Infantile Paralysis of the Municipality of Ivanjicafrom Ivanjica
- “Wonderland” musical by Mirela Milojević and Sport Society for Children and Youth with Special Needs “Palestra” from Kruševac
- "Assisted Living" project by Half Way There society from Pančevo
The First Prize was awarded to “Shelter and Counseling Centre for Women and Children Victims of Violence” of the Autonomous Women’s House Zagreb, the Second Prize was awarded to “The Roma Press Agency” from Slovakia, while the Third Prize went to Croatia as well – to “Roses of Saint Francis Homeless Shelter” from Rijeka.
Apart from money awards (16,000 – 40,000 euros), which are awarded by the ERSTE Foundation, the awarded organizations will receive some other benefits as well: the membership in Social Integration Network (www.socialintegration.org/network), regional recognition, PR and media recognition, the membership in ACCESS Initiative which promotes projects of non-governmental and non-for-profit organizations in the corporate sector and the promo film with the top 15 projects.
The ERSTE Foundation award is awarded every other year to creative projects for social integration thanks to which the quality of life of their beneficiaries is significantly improved. The award competition is open to organizations from the public sector and civil society, private initiatives, religious societies and the media.
