04-07-2011. The Winners of the Fifth “Centrifuga 2011” Grant Program for the Culture on the Local Level Announced
Youth organizations from eight Serbian cities have received this year’s grants in the total amount of 2.5 million dinars, which were provided by Erste Bank.
Centrifuga 2011 grants were awarded to the following youth organizations: Eco Voice from Jagodina, youth informal group Cultural Network from Banovci, non-governmental organization Positive Youth from Kraljevo, informal group Generator, Anomaly and Party from Požega, informal group Urban Youth from Novi Pazar, Civil society Vido from Kragujevac, Cultural center Lift from Čačak and Artists’ society The Stairs from Šabac.
„During the previous five years, Erste Bankhas supported 35 projects from more than 20 Serbian cities within Centrifuga program, by total investments which exceed 140.000 euros. We are very proud that in this manner the cultural network of Serbia has been broadened and enriched by the content which attribute to the further development of local communities”, said Andrea Brbaklić, Director of Communication Service at Erste Bank.
Balkan Community Initiatives Fund has been a partner of Erste Bank since the beginning of Centrifuga program. “Supporting the youth initiatives to affirm their creativity on the local level and to realize ideas which launch important questions for their generation represents our contribution to the creation of youth cultural policy in Serbia. The most successful awarded projects were continued with support from local governments, by which young talented authors were promoted, and their participation in contemporary cultural processes encouraged”, said Tanja Bjelanović, program Director at BCIF:
72 projects from more than 30 Serbian cities have applied for this year’s competition. The majority of ideas came from Vojvodina. Donation Board consisted of: Ana Sofrenović, actress, Gordan Paunović, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at B92, Dimitrije Tadić, Counselor at Sector for Contemporary Art, Cultural Industry and Cultural Relations at Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia, Mia David, Director of Cultural Center of Belgrade, Branislav Ivin, President of the Managing Board of BCIF and Mirjana Šakić from Communication Center at Erste Bank.
Centrifugawas launched in 2007 with an intention to encourage activism of the young from 15 to 30 years of age, and with a goal to launch creative cultural content in the Serbian towns where Erste Bank operates, except in Belgrade, Novi Sad and Niš. By grants we support local youth non-for-profit organizations and informal groups which deal with the questions of cultural activism in their towns in a creative manner.
Centrifuga is supported by Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia by the letter of support.
