The Start of Campaign on Primary Waste Selection and Recycling

On Tuesday, September 6th at “Jevremovac” botanical garden, the start of the six-month Green Initiative campaign was announced.  The campaign will be realized mutually by Balkan Community Initiatives Fund and another 9 civil society organizations, in cooperation with Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC), and with financial support from United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The members of Green Initiative signed the Memorandum on the Realization of Mutual Activities in order to make their dedication official, to define the roles and responsibilities during campaign realization.  Oliver Dulić, Minister of Environment, Mining and Spatial Planning, Susan Fritz, Mission Director of the USAID Mission to Serbia, Albert Cevallos, Head of ISC Mission to Serbia and Vladimir Radojičić, Coordinator at Balkan Community Initiatives Fund spoke to the members of Green Initiative.

Activities of Green Initiative will be aimed at the development of functional mechanisms for encouraging primary waste selection on the local and national level.  The activities will also be aimed at the reform of the praxis in waste management, and long-term improvement of the waste management system in Serbia.
