BAR CAMP

Balkan Community Initiatives Fund, in cooperation with Fund for an Open Society, is inviting you to BAR CAMP, which will be held on Thursday, October 13th 2011 from 6 to 9 PM at REX Cultural Center in Belgrade, 16, Jevrejska Street.

The idea behind Bar camp is to gather at one place the people who work on Internet, social networks, information technologies, programming, design and activism in order to exchange knowledge, to network and to search in an open environment for partners for the realization of their ideas.  That is an interactive concept which encompasses informal discussions, presentations and information and contact exchange between the participants.

Bar camp is open for all the people who want to show something or to find out more about the mentioned fields.  The participation at Bar camp is free, but due to the limited number of participants we ask you to register by filling out on-line form.  Participants who plan to present their work and/or their ideas should prepare the materials for their presentation in advance, and provide technical means for their realization.  It is suggested that all the participants with presentations come at least 60 minutes before the start of Bar camp, in order to take their seats and prepare for the event on time.

Within this Bar camp, consultations for „We are on-line!“ program will be held.  “We are on-line!” is a grant program with an educational component, whose goal it is toactivate and mobilize the young people through new media, social networks and information technologies.  This program is being implemented by Balkan Community Initiatives Fund in cooperation with Fund for an Open Society.  The consultations will be held by the future program trainers Srećko Šekeljić and Nebojša Radović – Eniac, Dubravka Veselinović from Civic Initiatives, Bojana Šekeljić from Center for New Communications Dokukino and Marija Mitrović, Program Manager at BCIF.

BCIF provided a limited number of travel allowances for participants who are coming from outside of Belgrade.  The allowances are intended for the participants who wish to present their work or participate in the consultations for “We are on-line!” program. 

The participants who sign up for travel allowances must tick that optionon the registration pageAll who receive travel allowances will be notified until October 11th until 5PM.  Geographical balance will be taken into consideration during the selection of the candidates.   You should know that Balkan Community Initiatives Fund will not cover housing and boarding expenses for the participants who come outside of Belgrade, and that the amount of their travel allowance will be in line with the amount of a return bus or train ticket to the place they are coming from.

Application deadline is October 12th 2011 until 5PM.  We kindly ask the participants who wish to apply for a travel allowance to apply until October 11th 2011 until 5PM at the latest.
