Poetrying in Čačak

Within Poezitiva program, Cultural center Lift from Čačak realized a three-day poetry workshop at Cultural center Full Art, and Poetrying at Hall of Residence for Secondary School Students in Čačak.

The workshops were held in mid-October, and they were dedicated to the young, talented people who like and write poetry.  Each workshop dealt with various topics which varied from writing styles and forms to slam poetry and modern tendencies in this art.

The lecturers included Mihajlo Pantić, Professor at Faculty of Philology, poet Bojan Marković and dramatist Milena Minja Bogavac.  What the workshop participants heard, saw, practiced and performed they could transform into poetry on three assigned topics.  The grand finale of everything learned and prepared was the performance at Poetrying on October 22nd 2011.

Fifteen performers performed at the first Poetrying in Čačak, among which there were guests from Belgrade, who are members of Poetrying Board.  The program was led by slam poetess and dramatist Milena Minja Bogavac.  On the same night alternative musicians of the band Midica and the absent friends, and singer-songwriter Kralj Čačka, presented their music inthe one-hour concert.

There were about 200 visitors at the Hall of Residents for Secondary School Students.  That certainly opens up a possibility to expand the idea of poetry popularization in Čačak, which was one of the goals of Poezitiva project.

Cultural center Lift is one of the eight youth groups whose projects have been supported within Centrifuga 2011 program.  The program is being implemented by ERSTE Bank and Balkan Community Initiatives Fund (BCIF).

Poetrying was launched in Belgrade in 2008 as the initiative of Art group “Škart”, with the goal to support individuals to express creative potentials, to empower unknown artists to publicly express their work and their views, wishes, fears and dreams, and to promote new ways of presenting poetry.  With over 450 poets, singer-songwriters, performers, cartoonists and other artists and performers, and over 5000 visitors, Poetrying is currently one of the most visited events in Belgrade.
