The House for Us in the Center of the City!
On Friday, December 16th 2011 Association for Help to Persons with Mental Disabilities of the Municipality of Trstenik opened a daycare center for persons with intellectual disabilities.
Their House in the Center of the City can now be used by a greater number of users from Trstenik and surrounding villages. There are about thirty-five of them.
The ground floor of this one-floor building, the area of which is 380 square meters, is light and spacious. It has been equipped with a playroom, dining room, bathroom, office, a room for rest and offices for work-occupational activities and trainings – for the work on plastic bag making machine and weaving loom. There will soon be a small workshop for the making of handy objects out of clay which are designated to be sold. There is another place which is designated for rest – the garden. Currently there are small pine trees, and the entire garden will bloom in the spring.
This Association went a step further in the process of engaging persons with disabilities in work. They have formed a network which consists of the organizations which work with persons with disabilities in Trstenik. They will mutually advocate for municipality’s support in encouraging employers to hire and engage in work persons with disabilities. |
