Our Achievements

We are proud for what we have done, but we are aware at the same time that we would not have made it without support from others. For that reason, we would like to thank all who work with us: our recipients, partners and donors, our staff, counselors and Board members. We are thankful to them because they share our beliefs and they trust in us. We thank you all, for ideas and enthusiasm, time and effort you put in. We invite all others to join us, and to think of challenges as an opportunity and an ability to make positive changes in our lives and communities.

From the beginning of its work, BCIF has provided support for over 700 projects of nonprofit organizations in the total amount of over 3.000.000 euros, in about 200 communities in Serbia and Montenegro. Within the scope of development programs, a few hundred representatives of civil organizations have gone through training in different areas of management, and then managed project successfully, whose examples of good praxis have been showed in 5 manuals. We have launched programs by which we encourage the connection of partners who work on solving the same problems in local areas, and bringing up those subjects on the national level.

After two research on local philanthropy, with the results which have been published and promoted by publications, BCIF launched in 2007 the first prize for corporate philanthropy in Serbia which bears the name VIRTUS, which is granted each year to the companies who invest in community. In cooperation with Ministry of Culture and respectable lawyers, economists, representatives, foundations and NGO’s, BCIF has launched an initiative and made a draft of Law on Foundations which would regulate this subject in accordance with European legal acts and praxis. Furthermore, in cooperation with Ministry of Finance, BCIF has prepared a set of amendments with the aim of granting tax deductions for companies and individuals who wish to give.

The new Law, which was adopted on November 23rd 2010, considerably improves the work of existing funds and foundations.
