Social Transition
Looking for innovative and sustainable ways for providing services to those who are in a great need of them, is in the core of the social transition we strive for. We think that in this process the important factor may be nonprofit organizations, which are often in an intense contact with jeopardized and marginalized people – the elderly, the disabled, women, children, the young, HIV positive people, the addicts, the poor, the homeless etc.
We have started our Social transition program in cooperation with Cooperating Netherlands Foundations for Central and Eastern Europe, which enables donations up to 1,500,000 dinars (15,000 euros) to nonprofit organizations, which have alternative solutions and innovative approaches to maintaining and improving the quality of social services for sensitive civil groups.
Our help is aimed at nonprofit organizations which are concerned with questions of social care, and which wish to add to the change of social system, and to move onto contemporary methods of prevention and action. We especially encourage participation of receivers themselves in implementation of treatments and services (e.g. training of parents with disabled children to work independently with their children), participation of volunteers, local authorities and private sector.
The procedure of granting donations
BCIF has distinct rules and procedures for donation grants for all programs. During public selection for Social Transition program, project proposals are reviewed on four levels:
1. BCIF’s office
2. Local counselors
3. Social Transition Board
4. The final decision on project financing is made by Cooperating Netherlands Foundation for Central and Eastern Europe
