Social Transition: Stories from Local Communities
Blue Bird, Kula
Thanks to the activities of “Blue Bird“, six of Zana’s adult friends will soon have a possibility to greet her in their new house wherein they will start their independent life and integration into the society.
Zana Zarić, a nineteen years old girl, is full of emotions and love for her environment, just like all the persons suffering from Down syndrome. She enjoys dancing, painting, reading and reciting thanks to the care and support of her family and friends from the “Blue Bird“ Society for Mentally Under-Developed Persons. In the daycare center in Kula, twenty four children and youth with intellectual dificulties and their friends from “Blue Bird“ keep spreading positive life energy of living on daily basis. They socialize and study, and they express their creativity through sewing and sculpting beautiful and useful things. In a greenhouse and an open-air garden, they diligently grow their own fresh vegetables and herbs for their own needs, plus, they sell the surplus earning some pocket-money in that way. Thanks to the activities of “Blue Bird“, six of Zana’s adult friends will soon have a possibility to greet her in their new house wherein they will start their independent life and integration into the society.
