Social Transition: Stories from Local Communities
Moonlight, Subotica
The citizens and donors are increasingly supporting and funding this humane idea and the Foundation, which has acuired a great trust of its local community.
Six years ago, a nook in the Technical School in Subotica came to life due to the initiative of the Night Sports Section and became the place where children from families with multiple problems could hang out on Friday nights until midnight. It was called the “Moonlight“ Club. Could anyone assume that today, in an internal table-tennis tournament, the children from the “first“ Moonlight would play against „Moonlight 4“? That the fussball tournament would be won by the boys from “Moonlights 5“ and „7“, but not before they had celebrated a victory over the “Moonlight Novi Becej“ team? The citizens and donors are increasingly supporting and funding this humane idea and the Foundation, which has acuired a great trust of its local community. Through joint efforts, nine evening clubs have been opened, which now contribute to a better social integration of the socially neglected children wherein they gather and socialize participating in sports, social games and cultural and educational programmes.
