02-06-2010. BCIF, Green List of Serbia, Young Researchers of Serbia and The Scout Organization of Serbia will realize a big ecological action „June, 5th – My Day“on Saturday, June 5th in Belgrade. The action will be conducted at various locations on Kalemegdan, where more than 700 children will demonstrate to the citizens the importance of recycling and environmental protection in Serbia, in creative and interactive ways. The action will begin on Saturday at 11 AM on Square of the Republic. The event will be opened by the representative of City of BelgradeNada Dumić, member of the City Council. Mike Harvey, chief of US Aid’s Mission, Telenor representative Ivana Vranjican, representatives of The Scout Organization of Serbia and Balkan Community Initiatives Fund (BCIF), as well as Kevin Wallis, special guest from Great Britain, member of The Scout Association of the UK will speak to the citizens. The participants will make a big recycle sign on Square of the Republic, by which they wish to symbolically send a message to citizens in charge and other people in society to take on a more active role in the solving of garbage disposal problem in Serbia. After opening, participants will go for a walk along Knez Mihailova Street to Kalemegdan fortress. Main activities will be realized at different locations in Kalemegdan, where there will be three interactive workshops dedicated to ecological topics for each of the six stands (Waste selection, Biodiversity, Natural habitats, Game, Play and Juggler’s stand). ArtEko robot containers – which have the ability „to talk“, recycling basket, juggler’s ecological performances – are just some of the activities which will take place in Kalemegdan. Along with children from the entire Serbia, a number of celebrities will join the action, such as basketball player Žarko Paspalj. Furthermore, the employees of various companies will participate in the action as well: Telenor, Coca Cola, Ernst and Young, Božić and sons etc. Telenor Company prepared gifts which will be distributed at stands during this event for all people who bring their old cell phones for recycling.
